Young-Earth / Old-Earth ... a question

Dr. Jackson,
I was presenting the idea of bringing you to El Paso, TX and in the process, I got hit with several 'Old Earth' theories and comments. Due to time, I couldn't address them then and there, but it made me realize something. I've noticed that just about every argument I've heard defending 'Old Earth' has its roots in 'interpretation' and 'it could have happened that way'. If there are others that don't have this at their core, I haven't heard them. However, the arguments for 'Young Earth' have mostly had a root of 'Let's seek out the truth' and 'How do true science and the Bible line up?' I do know that no model we can ever present is perfect and illustrate every aspect of what really happened, but Young Earth as you have preached, is perhaps the only one that has a foundation of seeking the truth. Any thoughts?

Oh my Charlie, well, I couldn't have said it better myself.
All old-earth models tend heavily toward compromise ... for the sake of "friendship with the world" which we know is "enmity with God."  Sorry ... it just looks like that and ... I gotta call'em like I see'm.  They are wanting "the praise of men" rather than the approval of God.
Anyway ... the biggest problem is ... death before sin.
Not only are all OEC models based on "it might have been" junk ... but they all also contain ... death before sin.  That is totally against what the Bible teaches, and so must be rejected -- that is -- if ya wanna go with the Bible.
Thanks for your question/inquiry/comment Charlie.

  1. It takes WAY more faith to "believe in" evolutioin (with zero evidence) than it does to accept God's revelation of what happened at the beginning. No man was there; whose word are we going to take? The word "science" is Latin for "knowledge." Who can "know" how this present world came to be, unless Someone from before the world tells us? To be science, it must be repeatable! Show me "repeatable evolution" on a macroscopic scale! -mb

Evolution...I can understand...They are blinded and seek any other answer besides a creator. What gets me every time are the folks brother Wolcott describes. Misguided Bible-believing Christians who have been force fed the old earth theories their whole lives...You really do not realize the pressures until you start noticing EVERY subliminal message you get about an old earth. I was watching that silly gold mining show set in Alaska on the Discover channel and they even commented about "the earth that had not been seen for millions of years..." It is everywhere, you cannot escape it. These Christians think they are doing the right thing by compromising the Bible with what they believe science knows as fact. They feel the only way to bring people to Christ is to show them that the Bible can be reconciled with "fact." The truth is they are the ones doing irreparable damage to Christianity, not the evos. This is what burdens my heart. I was there once myself not too long ago. Dr. J. was one of the folks instrumental in showing me that I have been lied to my whole life. All that subliminal old earth dogma...
